AYERS Sub - Price/performance: very good

The editors of Stereoplay Audio take a look at three subwoofers in the 2/24 magazine issue. The Velodyne Deep Waves 10, Nubert's XW-1200 and our AYERS Sub. It comes out on top against its competitors in the test field: "The AYERS Sub is just as compact as the Velodyne and gives its two 8.75-inch aluminum chassis a leg up with a 280-watt Hypex power amplifier. The drivers are positioned in a push-push arrangement. As they are positioned opposite each other, each driver compensates for the movements of the other, resulting in a very quiet cabinet.

The signal is fed into the woofer via an RCA cable, and there is also a lot to adjust on the back. The volume, of course, but also the crossover frequency can be adjusted here, and the INKLANG is the only one in the test field with infinitely variable phase control. You can choose whether it is switched on permanently or switches on and off automatically. It also has three EQ modes: Home Theater, HiFi and Flat, whereby Flat works without bass emphasis and the other two add a little (more) level. [...]

It still has power, and for its size, the bass and level stability are outstanding. There is no app and therefore no room calibration. However, we didn't miss it in the test, as the AYERS Sub was very harmonious on the compact speakers even without it. The reinforced enclosure is impressively heavy, with wall thicknesses of at least 22 millimetres ensuring stability. Another quote: "The housing remains completely still when the going gets tough." There's nothing to add to that.

SUMMARY: Even without room calibration, the AYERS Sub is convincing across the board, especially in the laboratory. And then there's the wide range of colors typical at INKLANG. The AYERS Sub is a great, superbly crafted and sensibly generously equipped subwoofer." (Stereoplay Audio 02/24)
