AYERS Sub – great calm and abysmal depth

HIFI.DE 08/2022: “The subwoofer is a cube with an edge length of almost 37 centimeters and appears quite bulky not only next to the dainty wall speakers. And with a delicate weight of 28 kg and two bass drivers mounted in a push-push arrangement, it will inevitably command your respect.
Once connected, adjusted and levelled, however, it quickly turns out that it is anything but an uncouth hulk. With a lot of empathy, great calmness and abysmal depth, it completely selflessly pushes the bass energy into the room, [...]. A fine example of the understated nature of the Ayers Sub is Flight of the Cosmic Hippo by Béla Fleck & The Flecktones. Here, none other than Victor Wooten takes hold of the strings of a fretless bass and coaxes dreamy melodies out of it in a low bass environment.
Many home theater noisemakers among the subwoofers are completely overwhelmed by this and muddy Wooten's soulful playing beyond recognition. And even our current subwoofer reference, the KEF KC62, reaches its limits here, when it suddenly has to transport so much expression in this frequency range.”
